Living in England and Wales, town by town

Every town of 10,000 people or more, as one place: who lives there, what sits inside its boundary, how safe it is. For a single street, start from a postcode on the area report.

A town here is an ONS built-up area — the continuously built land, not the council boundary or the postal town — with 10,000 residents or more at the 2021 Census. Each guide counts what sits inside that boundary from the same official sources as the area reports (Census 2021, the English Indices of Deprivation, police.uk recorded crime, the Department for Education's school register, NHS, NaPTAN and OS Open Greenspace), and hands you on to a scored report for any one street. Smaller places are not listed; look them up by postcode on the area report or the map.
