Every layer that matters.

Most UK area tools cover one slice. Schools-only. Crime-only. Demographics-only. Then they ask you to upgrade for a report, or wrap the whole picture in a single proprietary “area score” you can’t inspect.

NestScope UK takes the other approach. We layer all eight official data sources onto one interactive map — schools with Ofsted ratings, live UK Police crime, NHS GP surgeries, 263,000+ transport stops, flood monitoring stations and zones, 148,000+ green spaces and 19,200+ supermarkets — and we show you the raw rating, count and distance. No black box. No paywall. No login.

NestScope uses exclusively official, open government data. We do not fabricate, estimate or crowdsource any information. Every data point traces back to a government department or public body.

01Schools
Department for Education (DfE) — Get Information About Schools (GIAS). Full register of 26,500+ schools in England including name, type, phase, age range, local authority, pupil numbers and contact details.
02Ofsted ratings
Ofsted Management Information dataset. Includes overall effectiveness ratings (Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, Inadequate), sub-judgments for quality of education, behaviour & attitudes, personal development and leadership. Post-September 2024 inspections use the new framework where single-word grades have been removed; NestScope displays sub-judgment detail for these schools.
03GCSE results (KS4)
DfE School Performance Tables. Key Stage 4 statistics including Attainment 8, Progress 8 and percentage achieving Grade 5+ in English & Maths.
04Crime data
UK Police API (data.police.uk). Live street-level crime data updated monthly, covering all 43 police forces in England & Wales. Includes crime category, location, month and outcome status.
05GP surgeries & hospitals
NHS Organisation Data Service (ODS). All active GP practices and hospitals in England with addresses and contact details.
06Transport
National Public Transport Access Nodes (NaPTAN) via the Department for Transport. Every train station, London Underground stop, DLR, tram halt, ferry terminal and bus stop in England — 263,000+ locations.
07Flood risk
Environment Agency Real Time Flood Monitoring API. Live river level, tidal and groundwater monitoring stations across England, plus Flood Zone 2 & 3 polygons via WMS overlay.
08Green spaces
Ordnance Survey Open Greenspace dataset. 148,000+ parks, playgrounds, playing fields, allotments, cemeteries and nature reserves.
09Supermarkets
Geolytix Retail Points open dataset. 19,200+ supermarkets and convenience stores from all major UK retailers.

All data displayed on NestScope is sourced from publicly available government datasets under the Open Government Licence v3.0 or Crown Copyright. We believe that the information citizens need to make important life decisions — where to live, where to send their children to school, how safe a neighbourhood is — should be freely accessible and easy to understand.

NestScope UK does not collect, store or sell personal data. We have no relationship with estate agents, property developers, mortgage brokers or insurance companies. The site is independent and self-funded.
