StreetCheck alternative — a free UK area checker

Last updated: 3 August 2026 · streetcheck.co.uk no longer opens StreetCheck

Can’t find StreetCheck?

You’re not doing anything wrong: visiting streetcheck.co.uk no longer brings up StreetCheck — the address now sends visitors somewhere else (checked August 2026). If you were using it to look up a postcode before renting, buying or moving, NestScope UK covers the same ground for free: schools with Ofsted ratings, live crime, transport, house prices, flood risk, green spaces and a 0–100 area score. Start with the interactive map, or go straight to a written area report for a single postcode.

If you used StreetCheck for postcode research and want a visual, map-first view with schools and an overall score, the comparison below shows how the two line up.

Where NestScope is stronger

NestScope is map-first. You enter a postcode and see schools (colour-coded by Ofsted rating), live crime, GP surgeries, transport, flood risk, green spaces and supermarkets as layers you can switch on and off, then read a single area report with a 0–100 score anchored on official deprivation data. It is built for weighing an area — seeing how schools, safety and amenities stack up together.

What StreetCheck did better

StreetCheck was the better choice if you wanted census demographics — population make-up, household types, housing tenure and similar statistics presented as a text report. NestScope deliberately doesn’t collect or display personal demographic data, so if that is what you came for, this is the one thing a NestScope report will not replace. The Office for National Statistics publishes that census data directly.

Swap your old bookmarks in one edit

If you kept StreetCheck bookmarks for particular postcodes, NestScope uses one predictable address per postcode, so they can be swapped directly rather than searched for again:

  • Written area report: nestscope.uk/area/YOUR+POSTCODE — e.g. nestscope.uk/area/SW1A+1AA
  • Interactive map: nestscope.uk/map/YOUR+POSTCODE
  • Two postcodes side by side: nestscope.uk/compare?a=ONE&b=OTHER

Write the postcode’s space as a plus sign. Every valid UK postcode works — reports are generated live, so a postcode doesn’t need to be “in the index” to exist. The full set of URL patterns is in the postcode shortcuts guide.

What’s free, plainly

Since paywall surprises are usually what sends people looking for a new tool: the NestScope map and every layer on it, the 0–100 score and the area report’s facts are free with no account. A free sign-in adds the deeper rows — nearest named places, environment readings, the sold-price trend chart, comparisons and the full written summary. The only paid tier is NestScope Plus (PDF exports and comparing three or more areas at once); no data you need to judge an area sits behind it.

Which should you use?
